This week, XAPP hosted a webinar on the topic of how radio can succeed on Alexa. Inside Radio listened in and highlighted a few key points from the 30-minute session in a recent article this week. One of the main takeaways was that while voice assistants and smart speakers have brought radio back into the home, they will also be coming to the automobile faster than you think:
Moving to the car, Xappmedia points to data that says 64% of smart speaker owners are interested in having smart speaker technology in the car. A number of automakers have announced partnerships with Amazon to include built-in Alexa in 2018 models. There are also rumors of a proprietary Echo specifically for the car for users in established model vehicles.
The article also pointed out several key market data shared during the webinar including the rapid adoption of smart speakers, recent NPR Alexa streaming data, and the total smart speaker audience in the US as of 2017.
